12. Heart of Muhu
Lace pattern inspired from Muhu stocking pattern: motif for shawls
This pattern is inspired by color motif from cotton stockings found on Muhu island, Estonia which were knitted between years 1910 and 1912. Stockings are in Museum of Muhu(JSM529:E639), original motif is published in book “Meite Muhu Mustrid” by Mai Meriste, Anu Pink and Anu Kabur, p. 52-53.

This adaptation of one of the most famous and beautiful motifs for Haapsalu shawls “Waterlily”. The pattern is changed that it is possible to create triangular or rhombic shawls.
There are 3 possibilities: to knit triangular shawl by increasing stitches, to knit triangular shawl by decreasing stitches, to knit rhombic shawl by increasing and then decreasing stitches.
